Year 2000 The Junta de Castilla y León organised the 1st edition of the "Castilla y León CINCHO AWARDS" national cheese contest. In this 1st edition, the contest had participants from 10 autonomous regions: Andalucía, Baleares, Castilla La Mancha, Castilla y León, Madrid, Valencia, Extremadura, Galicia, País Vasco and Asturias.

Year 2001 After their good experience the year before, many participants decided to compete again in the 2nd edition. Professionals from Cataluña joined them for the first time.

Year 2002 In the 3rd edition, the number of participants was higher than ever; it finally extended to the 17 Spanish autonomous regions, which was a great achievement. A wide variety of cheeses were presented, and all of them honoured the great quality and variety in which the Spanish cheese sector has always taken pride.

Year 2003 It was the 4th edition, and all the 17 autonomous regions were participating again with 360 samples; almost one cheese for every day of the year.

Year 2004 The 5th edition encouraged the spirits of participants, who had great winning expectations. The number of participants remained as high as the year before, and so did the quality of the cheeses which were presented. We can now start saying that it is the most important national cheese contest.

Year 2008 Et voilà! The 7th edition is here, and the Cincho Awards have become international for the first time in history. The contest has already consolidated and the brand has become strong and is truly established; our aim now is to increase the contest's good reputation by making it internationally renowned.
